The exhibition

In September 2023, the region of Nagorno-Karabakh, an enclave with a predominantly Armenian population located in Azerbaijan, was completely emptied of its inhabitants—more than 100,000 people left within a matter of days. Driven out by war, they left behind a rich heritage, which this exhibition aims to showcase through around twenty photographs taken by Yvan Travert.

For sixty years, this photographer has been exploring questions of identity and the challenges faced by ethnic minorities in adapting to their surroundings. He visited the people of Nagorno-Karabakh on four occasions, the last time in December 2021. His invaluable photographs bear witness to a jeopardized civilization and highlight the richness of this heritage, , whether it be tangible or intangible.
